🎹 Recording MIDI

Saturn 9 includes a built-in MIDI Recorder for capturing your performances!

1. Click the ⏺️ REC button in the MIDI Recorder section
2. Play your performance
3. Click ⏹️ STOP when finished
4. Click 💾 SAVE to download as a standard .mid file
5. Import the MIDI file into your DAW and use any instrument/synth

✨ This is the easiest way to capture your musical ideas and edit them later!

🎚️ With Audio Interface (Scarlett, Focusrite, etc.)

If you have an audio interface, recording is straightforward:

Audio Recording:

1. Connect your computer's headphone/line output to the interface input
2. Set your DAW's audio input to the interface channel
3. Play Saturn 9 and record directly into your DAW
4. Monitor through the interface to hear playback

MIDI Recording:

• Use Saturn 9's built-in MIDI Recorder (see above)
• Or connect a MIDI controller to both Saturn 9 and your DAW simultaneously

🖥️ Without Audio Interface (Virtual Routing)

If you don't have an audio interface, use virtual audio routing software to record Saturn 9's audio into your DAW.

🍎 Mac Users (Virtual Audio)

Recommended: BlackHole (Free & Open Source)

1. Download and install BlackHole
2. In your browser, set audio output to "BlackHole 2ch"
3. In your DAW, set audio input to "BlackHole 2ch"
4. Create an aggregate device in Audio MIDI Setup to monitor while recording

🪟 Windows Users (Virtual Audio)

Recommended: VB-Audio Cable (Free)

1. Download and install VB-Audio Virtual Cable
2. In your browser, set audio output to "CABLE Input"
3. In your DAW, set audio input to "CABLE Output"
4. Use VoiceMeeter (optional) for advanced routing and monitoring

💡 Pro Tips

• MIDI first! Record MIDI using Saturn 9's built-in recorder - it's easier to edit notes later
• Set your DAW's sample rate to match Saturn 9 (usually 44.1kHz or 48kHz)
• Use headphones or monitor through your DAW/interface to avoid feedback
• Record in stereo for the full spatial effect with chorus, delay, and reverb
• With an audio interface, you can record both audio and MIDI simultaneously
• Use the built-in backing track player to practice before recording
